Are Adipex Diet Pills Right For You?

There are a number of diet pills on the market. Some are prescription only. Others are considered natural remedies and can be found in your health food store. Others are simply over the counter appetite suppressants and can help you lose weight.

What is Adipex?

Adipex is an appetite suppressant. It’s the brand name for the generic drug phentermine. It’s a psychostimulant drug that is quite similar to amphetamines, and it’s often prescribed in conjunction with diet and exercise to people who need to lose weight to correct serious health conditions. It has been approved by the FDA for short term use in treating obesity.

Risks and Adverse Effects

As with any prescription medication, there are some risks and potential side effects. In general, Adipex is considered to be safe and well tolerated by the general population. In addition to the potential for stomach distress and gastrointestinal issues, Adipex diet pills can cause an increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, heart palpitations, insomnia and it may cause some dependency in certain cases. It’s designed for short term use, which in this case means up to 12 weeks. Other common issues with Adipex are that weight is often gained back when you stop taking your prescription.

Is This Weight Loss Pill Right for You?

If you’re obese and your health is at risk because of your condition, Adipex can help you lose a moderate amount of weight. It’s estimated that when combined with diet and exercise, Adipex can help you lose approximately three to five more pounds than you would without the pills.

Keep in mind that Aidpex is only right for some people who have diagnosed obesity issues. It’s not right for everyone due to the amphetamine effect and the potential cardiovascular side effects. If you’re interested in Adipex as part of an overall exercise, diet, and lifestyle change program then talk to your doctor.

If you’re taking any other medications then your doctor will need to make sure there are no potential interactions which can limit the effectiveness of your medications, or interactions which can cause dangerous side effects. Additionally, if you’ve ever had dependency issues with other medications then Adipex may not be right for you.

If you’re obese but otherwise healthy, Adipex can be a short term aid in losing weight and getting healthy. Talk to your doctor about the risks and whether you’re a candidate. Only take Adipex if you have a prescription.
